While waiting for food to arrive.

I now have completely new gear to make a sharp, shallow-focus shot. A new camera and a new lens that goes to f1.4.

Weekend of skiing

Kathy, Tucker, Cari and Brenda get ready for a ski down mittersill. We all soon learned how much more practice we need before coming back up.Mittersill was like a thousand foot cute as wide as your driveway, in good spots.

NHPR on MIttersill

The view of Mt. Lafayette in the 11 degree weather was stunning.

Having been humbled by Mittersill we went to Bretton the next day and the powder was lovely. Lots of soft, fluffy, storybook powder. Cari worked on her tele turns and I just watched them all tele, but got in a few glade runs as well.

By the end of the day the clouds lifted and the view of the Presidentials was nice.

Cardigan

Lori decided that the Kancamagus was too far and so we should try Cardigan. Cardigan, in turn, was too hard. The escape route we chose was easier done on butt than XC skis.

ice as a recreational activity

Garrett Peabody and Travis Tinsey were my first official visitors to Concord. They came from Michigan for some ice climbing, and the New Years Eve cold snap provided. They did Black Dike on Cannon while I worked but were kind enough to let me tag along on a route in Crawford Notch, on the south face of Mt. Willard.

I need a lot of practice to keep up with them.
