My quota for cute kid photos is up. No more for six months. Even if it is a sequence.

no lights, portrait

Sometimes it happens and all you can do is chuckle. Spent 40 minutes shooting a lit portrait of Iraqi native Salim Jonah in the church sanctuary and as he's walking with me to the door I see this. So this is him, not lit, facing the parking lot.

She didn't bring in the 9 mm she usually carries. Just the papillon.

from the understatement

Looking through the past year's work for contest entries and I remembered this shot. I wish it were stronger, but it is a quiet image. On this spot on March 1, 2007 a tornado whipped through town, killing eight students hunkered down in the high school. I missed all the guards who were supposed to tell me to keep out and came to this spot, where the roof collapsed and crushed the kids.

Once I exited the building by the front door (by the satellite trucks) I got a tongue lashing, but I already had the shots. If only they were more eloquent.
