Recycled Art

My old co-worker Cathy worked on a slideshow on Bay City's scrapyard for at least a year and it looks fantastic. Yes, I did have to listen to hours of Pachelbel dubbed with machinery loops, but the final product shows where all the production time went.

dropped out

I enjoyed getting to illustrate a story on changes in the drop out age. Ben was very open and very cool about letting me hang out with him and his girlfriend, Natasha. Unfortunately, the story ran the same day he made the blotter for underage possession of alcohol.

Granite dreams

When I interviewed for this job they asked me why I wanted to come here to work at the Monitor. The first reason was not great photojournalism. It wasn't politics. Not the great staff at the paper.
It was granite.
I love granite and living in Michigan made my miss it like I couldn't believe until I saw it again. Sunday was a great day to play on the peaks.

This is looking into the Waterville Valley from the slabs that flank Mt. Welch, a low, but craggy peak between Plymouth and Franconia.

Mildred Hiller Cohn 1921-2008

The Cohns, May 2003

Millie died Sunday night. Her paintings and legacy are spread around the Alabama and wherever Cohns now live. I am glad that she passed on her gumbo recipe, but regret that her pickles will only be remembered and never tasted again. She taught me the basics of golf and, roughly, how to drive a golf cart. She will be missed.

Moonset over Concord

Saw this from the parking lot of the local Pizza Uno chain in the Big Box strip and couldn't pass it up. Tripods are my friend.
