from the archive...an understatement



Looking through the past year's work for contest entries and I remembered this shot. I wish it were stronger, but it is a quiet image. On this spot on March 1, 2007 a tornado whipped through town, killing eight students hunkered down in the high school. I missed all the guards who were supposed to tell me to keep out and came to this spot, where the roof collapsed and crushed the kids.

Once I exited the building by the front door (by the satellite trucks) I got a tongue lashing, but I already had the shots. If only they were more eloquent.
