Granite Towers

A trip to the Cirque of the Towers in Wyoming's Wind River Mountains.

Pingora from our campsite. We woke up Tuesday to hail and storm clouds and guessed they might blow over by the time we got to the base of the climb and we got lucky.

On the 5.7 variation of the second pitch.

It got crowded. Tony is up top, a guy from Boston on the "K crack" on the right and a belayer at the rappel point just in front of me.

We rappelled down to the grassy patches and walked from there.

The Watchtower and Pylon Peak.

Wolf's Head

Tony Schmidt climbs between hand traverses on the East Ridge route of Wolf's Head. Our camp is somewhere in the middle lobe of dark green, 1,000 feet below.

One of eight rappel from Wolf's Head back to the valley.

Dusk high on the ridge.
