A ski across the Pemi...almost
We started out at 7:45 to ski the 23 miles from Zealand to Lincoln Woods. At Shoal Pond, not quite half-way, we decided we were moving too slowly and it wasn't going to get any better, so we headed back. Great tour, but not the planned tour.
Entertainment at the trailhead.
Rte. 302
That's what sticky snow looks like. Even glide-waxing the fish-scales didn't help.
Crossing the slide.
Turning back at Shoal Pond.
We returned to 302 and the Zealand parking lot at 5:30 having skied 20 miles without getting into the remote sections of the Pemigewasset Wilderness.
This is the intended route.
