Southern cooking
What I enjoy most about coming home to Alabama-- the food.
Rib sandwich at Archibald's in Northport, Ala.
Sneaky Pete's in Mtn. Brook Village, where I walked for lunch as a kid. No IBC root beer this time around.
Nikki's West in North Birmingham--fried tomatoes, turnip greens, fried okra, black-eyed peas and candied yams.
I did not photograph any of the delicious shrimp I ate--will there be any more Gulf shrimp for the next few months?
shrimp, crawfish and oysters sauteed in vermouth at Highlands Bar and Grill
then
barbeque shrimp in a butter/cream reduction that I made at home from a John Besh recipe.
Good stuff.
